Water damage arises from fire damage, broken pipes, blocked drains, malfunctioning appliances, storms and other causes. The appropriate treatment depends on the nature of the damage. Some water carry contaminants and should be considered hazardous. Whatever the origin, the prospects for restoration depend largely on the speed with which your building and personal property can be dried. Even clean water can generate odor and other bacterial growth if neglected.

Residents of this north side Ann Arbor neighborhood woke to a basement “Old Faithful”. A water main break caused major damage to at least a dozen homes. Coach’s, with the cooperation and support of the City of Ann Arbor Utilities Department, came to the aid of the neighborhood. Water and mud flowed into basements. Residents reported as little as an inch or two and up to 17 inches of water, with thick, mud in their homes. Under the direction and leadership of Coach’s Water Restoration Division Manager, Paul Stever, and the dedicated, long hours of the emergency crews, Coach’s was able to complete the extensive restoration work in a couple of days.

Content had to be moved out of basements before restoration work began. The City of Ann Arbor provided dumpsters for unsalvageable contents. Stever stated, “ The techs worked professionally and skillfully for long hours. I was also very impressed with the residents of the neighborhood. Faced with such a huge catastrophe in their homes, they were patient and polite in the face of such adversity.” Stever’s skill in working with them and assuring them they would get excellent service as soon as possible aided the success of this project.

Coach’s is one of a few Michigan companies licensed to apply and sell CSG products. CSG is an antimicrobial coating that keeps athletic facilities and equipment protected from the threat of harmful bacteria, including MRSA. It can be used in medical facilities with great effectiveness, as well. One coating is guaranteed for three years. Other CSG products can be used on artificial turf and clothes used by athletes, and medical professionals.

Coach’s has applied CGS to the wrestling room at the University of Michigan. U of M wrestling coach Joe McFarland said, “ I believe the application of Sports Antimicrobial System throughout our facility will play an important role in killing illness-causing microorganisms and help continually combat bacteria and fungi that can be a major detriment to our team’s success.” Coach’s has also applied CSG at Oakland University and Stevensville Lakeshore High School. Sports Coating has been applied at over 10 Division I NCAA universities, 5 NBA and 5 NFL teams and their facilities. Call Coach’s for an appointment and more information on the benefits of CSG.

Summer is gone and we look forward to another Fall. The leaves go through their beautiful color-change. The temperatures begin to moderate, with an occasional Indian summer day thrown in. Walks in the woods. Final trips north. Close cottages and boats to put away. Many make plans to go south for the winter months. School is open. Football Friday and Saturdays are main events of many.

Hidden within this beautiful time of year are dangers and precautions to prepare for. Temperatures begin to chill and Holidays loom before us. Air conditioners switch over to furnaces. Candle use increases either for cozy ambiance or to add to festive celebrations. Firewood is stacked for the fireplace. Many will leave their homes unoccupied for long periods of time to head for warm, southern climates. It is an exciting time of year, but also a time to take extra care.

CRITICAL CLEANING PROTOCOL – MRSA – NOROVIRUS – SWINE FLU

If an outbreak occurs, it is critical to show the public that appropriate steps are being taken to protect students and the public. It is possible to sanitize buildings where potential contact with the bacteria or virus could occur, but local maintenance staff may need extra support for a quick response.

Coach’s Catastrophe Cleaning and Restoration Services has nearly 28 years of critical cleaning experience in schools, health systems, universities, and other institutional and commercial facilities. We will respond 24/7 for any proactive or reactive critical cleaning required at your facility. Our managers are available to walk through and provide a comprehensive estimate of cleaning time needed as well as an estimate of expense. Call 888-GO-COACH (888-462-6224).

Products – Coach’s technicians use E.P.A. approved disinfectants known to kill the bacteria and viruses. (MSDS sheets are available)

Process – The process would be a wet wash of all potentially exposed and reachable surfaces. An initial walk through by Coach’s managers and your staff would determine the scope.

Technicians – All Coach’s staff on site are trained by IICRC certified personnel. All staff are drug tested and have been background checked.

Potential areas to consider for cleaning:

Bathroom and locker rooms – toilets, sinks, showers, benches, all touchable space on doors, walls, lockers, hand dryers, dispensers, partisans, counters, mirrors, etc.

Athletic Facilities – mats, equipment, walls, bleachers, pool area, weight room, all touchable space on doors, walls, etc.

Cafeteria – tables, benches, serving areas, garbage cans, vending machines, all touchable space on doors, walls, etc.

Public areas – furniture throughout the building (tables, chairs, benches, desks, AV equipment, computer equipment, counter tops, touchable walls, railings, light switches, counter tops, door handles, drinking fountains, window areas, music cases and stands, etc.
